Experience

Steven's experience is grounded in years spent as a litigation support consultant, a paralegal, and a litigation support analyst for national and international law firms.

Steven provides guidance to our lawyers and clients on all phases of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model, project planning, budgeting, and e-discovery technology. He is an expert on software platforms such as RelativityOne, Relativity Server and Co-Counsel, the industry-leading e-discovery technologies used in-house at BD&P, as well as Reveal and Ipro Discovery. Steven often consults on employing early case assessment strategies, analytics, predictive coding technology, and large language models to create more efficient, streamlined document reviews. In addition, he has conducted dozens of data collections in large, highly sensitive matters and frequently assists clients with data mapping and preservation strategies. He aims to reduce client costs while leveraging leading-edge technology to improve outcomes.

Our litigation support team oversees highly complex projects and advises and assists with evidence administration, electronic discovery, databases, management of large review teams and trial presentation. Steven specializes in using analytical tools to facilitate timely and accurate analysis of discovery and real-time support at trial and during Questioning. He actively participates in the management of e-discovery infrastructure, technical troubleshooting and providing solutions to complex problems. Steven is passionate about mentoring and pays particular attention to training our students and lawyers to serve our clients better.

Steven has worked with all levels of courts in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario, from Small Claims to the Supreme Court of Canada, across various civil litigation practice areas, including construction, commercial, corporate, business, aviation, personal injury, medical malpractice, labour, and regulatory. He also has experience with the Canadian Competition Bureau, Alberta Securities Enforcement (ASC) and Alberta Energy Regulator (AER).
