Lauren’s focus is on commercial and general litigation. She advises on complex disputes involving construction matters, contractual disputes, and claims in negligence, breach of trust, and breach of fiduciary duties.
Lauren also has experience in:
- Judicial review and other administrative law disputes, including in regulatory proceedings and in court.
- Class actions, including in the financial and public law sectors.
- Commercial arbitration proceedings and mediations.
- Professional liability proceedings.
Professional History
Prior to joining BD&P, Lauren worked at an associate at two top litigation firms in Toronto, specializing in civil litigation, construction litigation, class actions, professional liability, and administrative law.
Lauren has acted in the following representative capacities:
- Acting for the constructors of two major public infrastructure projects in Toronto in disputes with the project’s public owner and various subcontractors.
- Acting for a cannabis company in a number of contractual disputes with suppliers and other partners.
- Acting for start-ups and early stage companies involved in contractual disputes.
- Defending a public regulator in a judicial review proceeding.
- Representing both defendants and plaintiffs in class action proceedings.
- Representing physicians in regulatory proceedings before the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, litigation matters, and Coroners’ Inquests.
Prior to her career in private practice, Lauren also clerked at the Alberta Court of Appeal for Justice Marina Paperny and at the Supreme Court of Canada for Justice Malcome Rowe.
