Experience

Chelsea Nimmo is a strategic litigator with over ten years of experience in complex commercial litigation. She has particular expertise in intellectual property disputes, having represented Fortune 500 companies in some of Canada’s largest patent disputes. Chelsea also guides clients on holistic IP strategies to help protect their most valuable assets or navigate those of their competitors.

Chelsea is known for providing practical advice, while simultaneously developing creative legal arguments that are successful both in and out of the courtroom.

Prior to joining BD&P, Chelsea worked at a top international law firm in Toronto for several years.

  • Acting for an oil and gas exploration, development and production company in a patent infringement action related to steam-assisted gravity drainage
  • Canadian Tire in relation to various patent and trademark matters
  • Pfizer in various claims relating to the drugs VIAGRA®, LIPITOR®, ACCUPRIL® and ACCURETIC®
  • Hoffman-La Roche Limited and Genentech, Inc. in various Federal Court actions under the PM(NOC) Regulations in respect of trastuzumab (HERCEPTIN®) and bevacizumab (AVASTIN®)
  • Novo Nordisk in various Federal Court actions under the PM(NOC) Regulations in respect of liraglutide (VICTOZA®)
