"A high degree of respect and individuality is given to every member of the firm, no matter the position. This created room for us to grow and prosper, comfortably and confidently." – Karim Ismail, 2022-23 Articling Student
Summer student program
If you’re a first or second-year law student, a summer with us is perfect for getting practical experience and exposure to different practice areas. It’s also the best way to get a sense of our culture and see firsthand what life as a lawyer is like.
Our summer program runs from May through August each year. And many of our summer students return as articling students.
Exposure to different practice areas
As a summer student, you'll work on real, relevant projects and get as much client contact as possible. Our rotation system immerses you in two different practice areas, and you’ll work with different lawyers to gain broad experience across the firm.
Mentorship and support
A partner or an associate will be your mentor for the summer. They'll provide feedback, career guidance, advice, and support. They’ll also make sure you’re getting valuable work experience during your time with BD&P.
Performance reviews
Constructive feedback will help you improve and grow. During your summer with us, you'll receive formal reviews. You'll also get practical informal feedback to help you develop your skills as a burgeoning lawyer.
How to apply
You can apply through the viRecruit portal during official recruiting periods. Applications should be addressed to the Student Hiring Committee.
If you’d like more information about the articling program, please get in touch with Anna Galanter (Director of Legal Talent and Diversity).
